Tribe privacy policy

Effective date: October 8, 2026

Tribe is a private family-connection app made by Vive Life Inc. ("Vive Life," "we," "us"). This policy explains what information we collect when you use Tribe, how we use it, and the choices you have.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or Apple's private relay address if you choose to hide your email). We do not receive or store your Apple password.

Phone number. If you verify your phone number, we store it to send you a one-time verification code and to connect you with family members who invite you.

Photos. If you grant photo access, the app uses photos you select to create story films for you and your family. Photos are processed only to provide this feature. Photos you select are uploaded so the app can create your story films and gathering slideshows. Each photo is kept for at least 30 days. After that, any photo that is no longer needed for something you have made is deleted automatically. The films made from your photos stay in your Archive. Photos you add to your Archive stay there until the person who added them deletes them.

Camera. If you allow camera access, you can take a photo of a moment you spent with family. The photo is used the same way as a photo you select: it is kept in your Tribe's Archive, or with only the people in that moment if you choose "Just us."

Voice recordings. If you record stories or answer questions by voice, we store those recordings to create transcripts and films you ask for.

Content you create. Stories, films, messages, and other content you share within your private family group ("Tribe") are stored so your Tribe can see them.

Gatherings. When a family gathering is recorded to make its film, the recording — the video and sound of everyone who joined — is stored only to make that film. It is deleted 30 days after the film is made, or 30 days after the gathering if no film could be made.

Phone numbers of people you text. The first time you send something by text from Tribe to someone, you pick their number from your iPhone contacts. Tribe sees only the number you pick, never your other contacts, and keeps it on your phone only. It is not sent to us.

Moments with family. When you tell your Coach about time with family ("We got together"), we keep who was there, when, how you connected (in person, by video or by phone), and the short description and photo you choose to add. The people in the moment may confirm it. If you rate how meaningful it felt, we keep the rating; it is never shown to anyone else.

Records of what you send. When you send something from Tribe by text, WhatsApp or another app, we record that you sent it, to whom, when and how. We never see or keep the words of your texts or anything else you write or say in other apps, and we cannot read your messages. If what you send is a voice note, photo or film from Tribe, we keep it so the link in your text can play it. That copy is deleted when the link expires, after 30 days, unless it is also in your Archive or in a message in Tribe. If your account is deleted, it is deleted with everything else, even if the link has not expired.

Voice replies. Texts you send from Tribe include a link so the person can reply with their voice. If they reply, we keep their recording so you can listen to it. If they are not on Tribe, we keep only the recording, how long it is and when it was made.

How your relationships are doing. From the activity above, Tribe calculates, privately for you, how you and each family member have been in touch. Only you see your numbers. They are never shown to the other person, never ranked or compared, and never included in notifications. Once a month you may also be asked, privately, how close you feel to someone.

Your conversations with your Coach. We keep your Coach conversations and short notes of them so your Coach can remember what you told it. We delete them 12 months after the conversation was last used.

Usage information. Basic technical information such as device type and app activity, used to operate and improve the service.

How we use AI services

Tribe uses trusted service providers to deliver its features, including AI services that generate coaching conversations, narration, transcripts, and films from the content you provide. These providers process your content only to provide the service to you. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not allow our providers to use your content to advertise to you.

Your Coach is an AI. It offers coaching about staying close to your family. It is not therapy and not a substitute for a doctor or counselor. If you tell it you may be in danger, it will point you to crisis resources such as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Text messages (SMS)

We send SMS messages only to deliver one-time verification codes you request in the app. Texts you choose to send to family from Tribe are sent by your own phone, through Messages, WhatsApp or another app you choose, not by us.

Message frequency varies with your use; a typical user receives one message per verification request. Message and data rates may apply.

We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile information — including your mobile phone number, SMS opt-in data, and messaging consent — to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Reply HELP for help or STOP to opt out of SMS messages. Opting out of SMS may prevent phone verification, but you can continue to use the app.

Who can see your content

Content you share in a Tribe is visible only to members of that Tribe. We do not make your content public, and we do not sell it or share it for advertising. A moment's photo marked "Just us" is visible only to you and the people in that moment.

How long we keep information

We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app: open Settings (the gear on Home) and choose Leaving. You decide whether the films and photos you shared stay with your family — without your name — or are removed with everything else; a film of a gathering other family members are in stays with them. Your moments, ratings, send records and relationship numbers are deleted; a moment another family member added, which you confirmed, stays with them, without your name. Deletion happens 30 days after you ask, and signing in during that time cancels it. You can also write to us at the address below.

Your choices

You control photo, camera, microphone, and notification permissions in your device settings. You can decline any of them and still use the app, though some features will be unavailable. You can skip any question your Coach asks.

Children

Tribe is intended for adults. Family members under 18 may participate in a Tribe only at the invitation of an adult family member and with the consent of their parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update this page and note the new effective date.
